Description: The criminally underrated Frank Perry (at least for the first half of his career – with titles like Death shock, Ladybug Ladybug, and The Swimmer) directs this dark coming of age tale centering on three teens (Barbara Hershey, Bruce Davison and Richard Thomas) on summer vacation on a Long Island beach community and how their comfortable threesome is affected when homely, uptight Rhoda (Oscar nominee Catherine Burns) infiltrates their dynamic. What ensues is about as far away from the contemporaneous AIP beach movies as possible. A really great, underseen flick.
