Description: After years apart, Tom returns to Southern California following his father’s death and is reunited with the family he barely knows: his mother, his stepfather, and the sister he has not truly grown up with. What should be a fragile homecoming quickly turns emotionally unstable, as old absences, unresolved longing, and the strange intimacy of sudden proximity begin to distort the household dynamic.
The film plays less like a conventional drama than a deliberately uncomfortable study of emotional confusion, blurred boundaries, and the destructive pull of desire inside a fractured family structure. Tom’s arrival unsettles everyone around him — especially the already strained balance between mother, stepfather, and daughter — and the house gradually becomes a pressure chamber of jealousy, guilt, and misdirected affection.
As relationships collapse into secrecy and fallout, the story moves toward a bleak, unresolved crossroads rather than easy moral closure. What lingers is not shock value so much as the sense of a damaged family drifting into territory that cannot be undone.

Brother/Sister belongs to that early-70s adult-cinema zone where taboo melodrama was often packaged as exploitation, yet sometimes reached for something more psychologically serious. Beneath the sensational premise, the film seems most interested in estrangement, identity, and the instability that follows forced reunion after years of separation. That uneasy mix — part taboo-cinema artifact, part melancholy family breakdown — is what gives it its lingering cult curiosity.
