Description: Baby Love is a sheltered young woman with a dreamy view of the world and a suitcase full of misplaced expectations. Convinced that she is setting off on a glamorous journey to Paris, she instead finds herself wandering through the streets of San Francisco, trying to make sense of a city that seems far more complicated than the adventure she imagined.
Beau is just as unprepared for the day ahead. A trusting midshipman enjoying a brief spell of shore leave, he arrives in town with money in his pocket and almost no instinct for trouble. After a pair of streetwise women leave him considerably poorer and a little wiser, he crosses paths with Baby Love — another outsider drifting through the city without a clear plan.
Their connection is immediate, awkward, and unexpectedly sincere. What follows is less a conventional plot than a gentle romantic detour through late-70s San Francisco: two naïve souls finding temporary shelter in one another while the city moves around them with its usual mixture of possibility, temptation, and indifference.
But Beau’s leave is short, and reality eventually begins pressing against the edges of their brief escape. The central question is simple: can a romance born almost by accident survive once the uniforms, schedules, and obligations of the outside world return?
