Description: On the sun-scorched beaches of Ilocos Norte, an isolated Filipino village becomes the setting for a clash between repression, desire, and brutality. Tonya (Maria Isabel Lopez), a devout and sexually repressed young woman, has taken over teaching religion to the local children after the priest’s departure. To her, a man’s lust is nothing less than the devil’s horns, yet she secretly burns with forbidden attraction for Simon (Mark Joseph), the village butcher and the most desired man among the women.
Her fragile control unravels when Selda (Sarsi Emmanuelle), her childhood friend and polar opposite, returns from exile in the city. Where Tonya preaches abstinence and self-denial, Selda embraces passion and freedom, openly pursuing Simon while mocking Tonya’s shame-filled outlook. Their rivalry stirs long-buried secrets and ignites tensions throughout the community, where women are both victims of male violence and complicit in cycles of desire and cruelty.
Director Elwood Perez crafts a tale that moves between stark realism and surreal allegory, juxtaposing brutal violence with startling eroticism. Images of slaughter, religious ritual, and fevered sexuality intertwine as the film explores themes of repression, guilt, and the primal force of human desire.
As passions escalate and morality collapses, Silip builds toward a haunting finale—one where absolution comes too late, and the sins of both men and women are laid bare beneath the unforgiving sun.
