Description: Doralice is a simple, romantic dreamer obsessed with the idea of marriage and hopelessly devoted to soap-opera star César Augusto. But after a brutal turning point in her life, she’s pulled into the city’s nightlife by her streetwise friend and reinvented in a world where desire is currency and identity can be rewritten overnight. Soon, Doralice becomes infamous under a new persona — adored, exploited, and increasingly untethered from who she used to be.
When wealthy Dr. Perdigão takes her in and transforms her into the “refined” Tallulah, Doralice believes she’s finally escaped her past — until obsession drags her straight toward César himself. Love turns into fixation, rejection turns into humiliation, and Tallulah spirals into tragedy as fantasy and reality collapse into one final, desperate act.
Legacy note: A wildly tonal Brazilian sexploitation oddity, The Woman Who Invented Love mashes up pulp melodrama with art-film ambition — mixing Pygmalion-style reinvention, soap-opera satire, and a surprisingly bitter critique of how “respectability” is manufactured and sold.
