Description: History has never been quite this ridiculous! Homer is a bumbling researcher whose ordinary existence takes an extraordinary turn when he discovers a mysterious pocket watch capable of transporting its owner through time. Suddenly, centuries of human civilization become the setting for one outrageous misadventure after another.

With every unexpected journey, Homer finds himself surrounded by famous historical personalities, elaborate period costumes, and situations that bear little resemblance to anything found in a history textbook. From the palaces of revolutionary France to ancient Rome, the unfortunate traveler encounters a colorful parade of eccentric rulers, seductive aristocrats, and bewildering customs.

Among the remarkable women crossing his path are Marie Antoinette, Madame du Barry, Cleopatra, Anne Boleyn, and Helen of Troy. Their appearances transform celebrated moments from the past into an increasingly absurd sex comedy filled with historical parody, theatrical misunderstandings, and shamelessly exaggerated characters.

Meanwhile, Homer’s bizarre adventures are observed from a heavenly vantage point, adding another layer of surreal comedy to his unpredictable travels. As the magical watch continues sending him through different eras, historical accuracy becomes completely irrelevant, replaced by slapstick humor, outrageous coincidences, and extravagant adult entertainment.

A Clockwork Blue is a wonderfully eccentric combination of time travel, historical satire, and vintage erotic fantasy. Its intentionally ridiculous dialogue, exaggerated performances, cheap but imaginative costumes, and relentless visual jokes capture the uninhibited spirit of early-1970s American exploitation cinema.

Legacy Note: Directed by Eric Jeffrey Haims, A Clockwork Blue takes its mischievous title from Stanley Kubrick’s A Clockwork Orange while pursuing a completely different cinematic direction. Instead of dystopian violence and social commentary, Haims offers an irreverent journey through world history, transforming famous historical figures into characters in an outrageous adult farce.

Joe E. Tata, later familiar to television audiences, plays the unfortunate Homer. The film’s impressive female ensemble includes Maria Arnold as Betsy Ross, Suzanne Fields as Marie Antoinette, Shella Bancroft as Madame du Barry, Rene Bond as Anne Boleyn, Shannon West as Cleopatra, and Jane Allyson as Helen of Troy. Tracy Handfuss, Mady Maguire, Sandy Carey, and Sandy Dempsey also contribute to its colorful cast.

Haims would return to similarly playful adult fantasy in The Mislayed Genie (1973), another unusual production featuring Rene Bond. His earlier 101 Acts of Love (1971) offers a different example of the director’s experimental approach to adult entertainment.

The presence of Rene Bond and Maria Arnold also connects the film to Edward D. Wood Jr.’s Necromania: A Tale of Weird Love (1971), another memorable curiosity from the same period of American underground filmmaking.

With its deliberately artificial historical settings, colorful photography, broad slapstick comedy, and an assortment of dated jokes, A Clockwork Blue represents a distinctive moment in the evolution of American sexploitation, when filmmakers enthusiastically mixed popular cinema trends with outrageous erotic spectacle.

Campy, absurd, and wonderfully unpredictable, A Clockwork Blue remains a curious relic of vintage adult comedy—a film where a magical watch opens the door to centuries of historical mischief, famous figures behave outrageously, and the past becomes a playground for the wildest cinematic imagination.
