Description: Longtime 1970s soft-core starlet Sharon Kelly shines in one of her best starring roles in this enjoyably campy outing as the titular Alice Goodbody, a lovably ditzy waitress at a Hollywood greasy spoon diner who dreams of achieving celluloid stardom. One fateful day, she crosses paths with the perpetually scheming and sleazy Second Assistant Production Manager, Myron Mittleman (played with smarmy perfection by Daniel Kauffman). Myron helps Alice land a small role in a hilariously awful musical version of Julius Caesar—a spot-on parody of Jesus Christ Superstar. Unfortunately, Alice’s moment of fortune is cut short when she’s struck in the face by a runaway boom mic.
Undeterred, the fiercely determined Alice quickly learns a valuable lesson: the surest path to success in show business often involves cozying up to the right powerful people. Before long, Alice is doing exactly what you’d expect with a handful of Hollywood’s kinkiest movers and shakers, ultimately securing her meteoric rise to stardom.
While this flatly directed, stiffly staged (courtesy of Tom Scheuer, who also wrote, produced, and edited the film), and undeniably cheap production is shamelessly lowbrow, it still delivers plenty of silly fun. Highlights include a spirited performance by the ubiquitous George “Buck” Flower as a voyeuristic, food-fetish-loving sex freak, a bouncy soundtrack packed with catchy, upbeat tunes, and, most of all, Sharon Kelly’s endlessly effervescent charm. Her radiant vitality and often-unclothed, delightfully voluptuous figure make this goofy affair a thoroughly entertaining slice of dumb fun.
