Description: Over the course of a single tense day in Budapest, two young women — Margó and Ildi — drift through the city’s shadowy margins, balancing art school dreams with the harsh realities of survival. Their lives are shaped by unstable relationships, broken homes, and men who move in and out of prison, foreign cities, and the criminal underworld.
When Attila, a figure from the past, is suddenly released and re-enters their lives, the fragile balance collapses. He believes nothing has changed, but the women have built new identities and alliances in a world where trust is rare and escape feels impossible. As he follows them through the city, denial turns to obsession, and the day spirals toward an inevitable confrontation.
Set against the fading final days of socialist Hungary, the film paints a raw portrait of youth on society’s edges — people who exist between systems, between futures, and between hope and resignation.
Legacy Note: Long circulated only on VHS, the film became a quiet cult artifact of late-socialist Eastern European cinema, capturing a rarely shown slice of pre-transition urban life — where underground culture, moral gray zones, and social disillusionment surfaced just before the political order itself collapsed.
