Description: Hick musician Purvis (Whaney) leaves his Southern sweetheart Betty-Lou (Mitchell) to pursue his dreams in New York. There, he meets agent Suzie Starmonger (Tree), who rebrands him as Pelvis and sets him on the path to fame. Pelvis performs tasteless songs like “Nazi Lady” and eventually dons an entirely silver outfit, even painting his face, while spiraling out of control.
This crude, frantic parody barely touches on Elvis Presley himself, despite the star’s background as an Elvis impersonator. Instead, it focuses on satirizing the myth of showbiz success with a juvenile, irreverent approach. Though there are a few quirky moments and Pelvis himself exudes a certain clueless charm, the overall execution leaves much to be desired. In summary, it’s an effort that falls flat—best to forget it.
