Prison (1997) watch uncut

Language: English
Country: Germany | Imdb Info

Description: Two female journalists begin investigating the disappearance of one of their colleagues, who vanished while working undercover inside a prison in an unnamed country. The film does not hide her fate for long — the opening scene already makes it clear that something terrible happened to her — but the real story begins when the investigation draws the attention of the prison’s director, played with cold authority by Elodie Cherie.

The director does not appreciate being threatened by the press. When the journalists, played by Lea Martini and Eva Falk, push too far, they are arrested and thrown into the very prison they were trying to expose. From that moment on, their search for the truth becomes a nightmare of captivity, corruption, and extreme degradation.

What follows is a vicious women-in-prison adult exploitation feature in the unmistakable Alain Payet tradition. The film moves from investigative thriller setup into a brutal world of power games, humiliation, coercion, and institutional sadism. Some scenes are designed to provoke desire, others are meant to shock or disturb, but the overall effect is intentionally overwhelming.

Despite the rough and transgressive material, the film is not simply thrown together. Marcus Von Trotta’s photography gives the prison a gloomy, oppressive atmosphere, while the editing keeps the story moving with surprising efficiency. Several performers bring more presence than expected to the material, including Roberto Malone as a corrupt and perverse political figure, Thomas Santini as a vicious prison presence, and Elodie Cherie as the beautiful but terrifying authority figure at the center of the nightmare.

The result is a dark, disturbing, and aggressively confrontational WIP/adult exploitation film. It is not for casual viewers, but for fans of extreme prison cinema, sick Eurocult features, and Alain Payet’s more dangerous work, it delivers exactly the kind of forbidden, uncomfortable intensity the genre promises.

Bottom line: if you are drawn to twisted adult features, women-in-prison exploitation, and the harsher edges of European genre cinema, this is a title worth seeking out. It is ugly, intense, and deeply unsettling — but also a reminder of why Alain Payet remains such a distinctive name in this strange corner of cult cinema.
