Description: At a lavish poolside gathering, Linda slips away from the crowd and stumbles into a secluded mansion where an old film projector flickers to life. What begins as a curious late-night discovery turns into something stranger: a glimpse of a man whose face seems untouched by time. Soon she meets him in the flesh — Darrin Blue, elegant, mysterious, and carrying the weight of a life that somehow stretches across generations.

Darrin’s story reaches back to the 1920s, when a wealthy older patron first became obsessed with his youth and beauty. In a moment of vanity and impossible desire, he makes a wish that changes everything: if age must come, let it fall not on him, but on his image instead. From there, the film drifts through the decades as Darrin moves unchanged through shifting eras of American style and movie mythology — gangsters, noir shadows, rebellious youth, psychedelic drift — while the world around him transforms and the people he touches fade away.

Each era plays like a mini-movie, affectionately riffing on classic Hollywood archetypes while building a melancholy portrait of a man trapped by his own permanence. Darrin can pass through time, but he can never fully belong to it. Every romance is temporary, every identity a costume, and every decade leaves him a little more isolated inside his own legend.

By the time the film circles back to the moonlit present, the joke and the glamour give way to something unexpectedly sad: a man who got exactly what he wished for, and has spent a lifetime discovering why that was a curse.

Legacy Note:
Take Off has a reputation as one of adult cinema’s most ambitious narrative productions — not just because of its scale, but because it genuinely tries to fuse classic Hollywood pastiche, fantasy melodrama, and emotional tragedy into one package. Using The Picture of Dorian Gray as its backbone, it turns what could have been a novelty premise into a stylized time-travel-through-film-history curio. More than a period piece or parody, it survives as a rare example of an adult-era feature reaching for real cinematic sweep — and, by many accounts, actually getting there.
