Description: By day, Lynn Merrick looks like the definition of respectable suburban comfort — a tidy home, a husband who assumes everything is normal, and a taste for expensive clothes and shiny status symbols. By night (and very much by weekday), she drives into New York City and clocks in at a discreet “agency” that specializes in discreet arrangements for men with money and very specific appetites.

What follows is essentially a day-in-the-life tour through mid-60s urban sleaze culture: staged “photo sessions” designed to look legal on paper, private appointments that blur fantasy and humiliation, and party bookings where Lynn and her co-workers run the room with practiced confidence. The film keeps a pseudo-documentary tone — reinforced by a solemn, moralizing narrator — while delivering a string of episodic encounters that feel like case studies in desire, loneliness, and power.

As the day unfolds, the most interesting tension isn’t whether Lynn will be “caught,” but who is really in control. The clients often arrive as swaggering voyeurs and leave as awkward, timid men relieved to be guided. One of Lynn’s colleagues pushes the boundary even further, turning a routine assignment into a private side arrangement that hints at something more human underneath the transactions — and quietly asks the question the film can’t stop circling: is this exploitation, empowerment, or just another kind of performance?

Legacy Note:
The Sexploiters is a perfect little artifact of 1960s sexploitation — shot in stark black-and-white with a smoky, swing-era jazz pulse and that classic “serious narrator” posture that tries to make sleaze sound like sociology. It’s episodic, mild by modern standards, but historically revealing: a transitional-era grindhouse “exposé” that sells taboo as nightlife anthropology. Also notable: director Al Ruban later moved into more reputable filmmaking circles, which makes this an extra-curious early stop — a rough-edged slice of sleazy Americana that still feels like a time capsule of pre-ratings-era hustle.
