Description: Paulette, a glamorous French model newly settled in the U.S., drifts through a sunlit day of photo sessions, city wandering, and quiet self-reflection—until exhaustion pulls her into a bizarre, feverish dream. Rescued by a handsome stranger, Paulette’s dream spirals deeper into pure nudie-cutie insanity: sudden threats, absurd chases, and random spectacle—right down to an unexpected ape attack and a tribal dance sequence that makes logic completely irrelevant. Part Houston travelogue, part delirious daydream, The Wild and the Naked is a low-budget slice of early-60s exploitation where reality collapses into ridiculous fantasy—and then snaps back awake before it can explain itself.
Legacy note: A perfect example of early “nudie cutie” cinema mutating into near-surreal camp, the film plays like a lost drive-in fever dream—less story than vibe, stitched together from lounge music, oddball imagery, and pure 1960s grindhouse logic.
