Description: Harry Russo is a burned-out writer spiraling through drugs, paranoia, and violent delusions in the shadows of late-90s urban decay. His only “companion” is a grotesque ventriloquist dummy named Rubberneck — a twisted voice in his head that pushes him further from reality and deeper into madness.
As Harry drifts through back alleys, dingy apartments, and anonymous city streets, his breakdown turns into a chaotic spree of rage-fueled encounters. Reality fractures, hallucinations blur with action, and the film traps the viewer inside Harry’s unstable perspective — part fever dream, part shot-on-video nightmare.
Raw, abrasive, and defiantly underground, Schizophreniac is less a conventional horror film and more a document of no-budget outsider filmmaking, driven by unfiltered performance and pure DIY extremity. Plot logic takes a back seat to psychological collapse, shock value, and the grimy texture of late-90s direct-to-video horror culture.
Legacy note: Shot on consumer digital video at the dawn of the shot-on-video horror resurgence, the film became a cult artifact of extreme micro-budget cinema — the kind of regional, self-made shocker that circulated hand-to-hand among collectors long before streaming gave this era a second life.
