Description: The Italian season continues with another stunning film by Mauro Bolognini. As usual, time and place is beautifully evoked; the cinematography is exquisite; there is a healthy dose of sex; an excellent cast (Mastroianni, Francoise Fabian, Martha Keller, Barbara Bouchet) is involved; and, Ennio Morricone contributed a wonderful score.
Review: Mental hospital somewhere in Tuscany , about in the thirties. Far from fascism, this closed world is under the control of Dr. Bonaccorso , enthusiastic and friendly psychiatrist whose dream – to select a bacterium madness. He is also very full of love , and meets three women : Frances Hospital manager wife , Bianca – his dedicated nurse , and Charles , his wife nymphomaniac . His well-organized universe begins with the arrival be tested Anna trainee psychiatrist , which refutes his theory of insanity bacteria and resists his advances.
