Description: In early-1970s Amsterdam, Frank is a restless, carefree man drawn to nightlife, freedom, and promiscuous adventures — a man for whom commitment feels suffocating. His partner Eva, on the other hand, longs for stability, love, and a future built on faithfulness; she dreams of building a home and starting a family.
But their relationship exists under constant tension: while Eva hopes for permanence, Frank drifts across fleeting affairs and wild nights out, unable or unwilling to settle down.
As Eva grows increasingly frustrated by Frank’s selfish choices, she begins to question whether love alone can sustain her — especially after discovering she is pregnant.
Feeling betrayed one too many times, Eva takes a drastic decision: she reaches out to someone else, hoping for the security and respect that her tumultuous relationship with Frank never provided.
What follows is a raw, emotional portrait of a couple at the breaking point — torn between desire for freedom, longing for stability, and the brutal reality that love cannot always heal what carelessness breaks.
Frank & Eva captures the contradictions of its era: sexual liberation clashing with traditional expectations, personal freedom pitted against emotional responsibility. With its gritty 1970s realism, honest performances, and unglamorous depiction of love’s failures, the film remains a powerful, melancholic snapshot of human relationships under strain.
