Teaserama is less a traditional movie than a filmed burlesque revue — a colorful stage-show snapshot from the mid-1950s, built around dance numbers, striptease routines, corny comedy interludes, and the playful presence of Bettie Page. The film opens its curtain on a fantasy version of old burlesque: a…

Moving between studio sessions, street interviews, and conversations with…

Excellent fly on the wall documentary about a strip club and its girls made at around the start of 'The Sexual Revolution' of the mid sixties. The film neither glamorizes nor sullies what it captures which is a interesting moment in time.

Stars: Alan Abel, Buck Henry, Marshall Efron, Holly Woodlawn, Iris Brooks, Evelyn Jones, Jeanne Abel, Lynn Dickson
This film is a crazy quilt of tongue-in-cheek vignettes, all spoofing the sexual revolution of the 70s. It is a great piece of dirty satire, featuring some of the best improvisational comedians of the era, including Buck Henry and the hilarious Marshall Efron. Many of the movie's funniest…

Stars: Barbara Mills as (Gabriella Caron), Luanne Roberts, Al Ward, Hal Hidey
Poor Gabriella lives at home with her bickering parents, who are first introduced in a sex scene bafflingly intercut with footage of their nude daughter swimming (the uncomfortable overtones are hopefully accidental). After a shrill fight with the wife, dad packs up and heads out to cruise the…

While sex is the raison d'etre for this film, there are extremely valuable segments featuring Mary Philips of N.O.W and gay activist/magazine publisher Arthur Irving. Mary's comments especially are perceptive and indisputable, still relevant 40 years later. But it is pornography and obscenity that dominate Gerard Damiano's consciousness,…

Stars: Jan Davis, Pete Dawson, Morris Kite, Cheri Rostand
American SEXUAL REVOLUTION has unintended nostalgia value as a time capsule. Its title is intentionally misleading; this combination of XXX porn sequences, travelogue vistas of Tenderloin sections in major U.S. cities containing the adult cinemas and bookshops, and interviews is strictly about pornography and its spread to mainstream…
