Description: Paula is an exotic dancer working in a private nightclub when she catches the attention of the wealthy and sinister Radecks. They offer her a large fee to spend a weekend at their island palace, inviting her boyfriend along for what is presented as an erotic holiday among rich eccentrics, strange games, and luxurious excess.

The invitation is a trap.

Once Paula reaches the island, the atmosphere shifts from decadent fantasy to something far more dangerous. The Radecks and their guests treat pleasure, power, and cruelty as part of the same private ritual. Their wealth has isolated them from ordinary morality, and the island functions like a sealed kingdom where they can stage any game they desire.

At first, the weekend is framed as a treasure hunt. Paula and her companion are given rules, watched closely, and pushed into a performance they do not yet understand. But the “game” soon reveals its true nature: the visitors have not been invited as guests, but as prey.

The jungle becomes a hunting ground. The palace becomes a trap. Every smile from the hosts hides appetite, and every step away from the house pulls Paula deeper into a survival nightmare. What began as a paid escape turns into a brutal test of endurance against predators who have transformed aristocratic boredom into ritualized violence.

Tender Flesh is one of Jess Franco’s late-period returns to the “human hunt” theme, reshaping The Most Dangerous Game through his familiar obsessions: erotic power, decadent elites, private islands, voyeurism, and bodies treated as commodities. Shot with the loose, low-budget texture of Franco’s 1990s work, it is less polished thriller than sleazy fever object — part island adventure, part exploitation horror, part cannibal aristocracy nightmare.

Legacy Note:
Tender Flesh marks the beginning of Jess Franco’s late shot-on-video period after Killer Barbys, a phase defined by tiny budgets, digital roughness, familiar collaborators, and a return to old motifs in stripped-down form. Written and directed by Franco, the film stars Amber Newman as Paula, with Lina Romay as the coldly predatory Mrs. Radeck, Alain Petit as Paul Radeck, Monique Parent as Baroness Irina, and Aldo Sambrell as Kallman.

The film also connects directly to Franco’s lifelong fascination with The Most Dangerous Game. Decades earlier, he had explored similar territory in La Comtesse perverse, and Tender Flesh feels like a late, degraded echo of that aristocratic-hunt fantasy: fewer resources, more video-era sleaze, but the same core idea of wealthy predators turning human life into entertainment.

For Franco collectors, its importance is not in refinement but in recurrence. It shows the director still circling his old obsessions — islands, cruel couples, ritual games, voyeuristic staging, erotic threat, and survival under decadent power. Messy, lurid, and unmistakably late Franco, Tender Flesh is a minor but telling artifact from the final stretch of one of exploitation cinema’s strangest careers.
