Description: Montréal Police Detective Sergeant Jim Henderson is the lead investigator in the death of a scantily-clad young woman found outside an apartment building. Initial assessments suggest that she was pushed from the unoccupied twentieth-floor penthouse balcony. Henderson’s partner, Detective Sergeant Pierre Paquette, recognizes her as a prostitute, who goes by the working name Elizabeth Lucy, a drug addict and one of Meg Latimer’s girls.
Through questioning Meg and another of her girls, Laura, Henderson and Paquette learn that Elizabeth, much like Henderson himself, was a non-practicing Catholic. Despite this, when she was found, a crucifix on a chain was around her neck, and she tightly clutched a pyx in her hand.
As Henderson and Paquette delve deeper into the investigation, putting themselves and their associates in greater danger, the story of their pursuit intertwines with the story of how Elizabeth came to be dead outside that apartment building. If Henderson and Paquette uncover the truth, Henderson may find himself questioning his already fragile Catholic faith even further…
