Description: Two beautiful cabaret dancers, Cecile and Brigitte, find themselves facing imprisonment after their provocative performances attract the attention of the authorities. Unexpectedly, a mysterious government official offers them a remarkable bargain: their freedom in exchange for a dangerous undercover mission in the Canary Islands.

Their assignment takes them to the glamorous but suspicious Flamingo Club in Las Palmas, where several young women have mysteriously disappeared. Posing as nightclub performers, the unlikely secret agents begin investigating an elaborate international espionage mystery involving wealthy businessmen, corrupt officials, and an underground criminal organization.

Behind the nightclub’s glittering entertainment lies a sinister network of human trafficking. At the center of the conspiracy stands the elegant and dangerous Irina Forbes, a ruthless woman who uses a mysterious fiery opal to hypnotize her victims and bring them under her control.

As Cecile secretly photographs suspicious visitors and Brigitte becomes entangled in the nightclub’s complicated relationships, the investigation takes an increasingly perilous turn. The two women discover that their enemies possess powerful connections, and Irina’s extraordinary talent for hypnosis threatens to destroy their mission before they can expose the truth.

Soon, the adventure erupts into a chaotic mixture of kidnappings, deception, dangerous pursuits, and violent confrontations. With the authorities themselves compromised, Cecile must rely on unexpected allies to survive a conspiracy extending far beyond the nightclub.

Two Female Spies with Flowered Panties is an eccentric combination of erotic espionage, tropical adventure, black comedy, and vintage sexploitation. Its exotic locations, glamorous female leads, bizarre villains, and unpredictable storytelling capture the wonderfully unconventional spirit of Jesús Franco’s cult cinema.

Legacy Note: Written and directed by Jesús Franco, Two Female Spies with Flowered Panties revisits the filmmaker’s fascination with independent women, international crime, secret societies, and seductive criminal masterminds. Its combination of absurd humor and dangerous espionage recalls Franco’s earlier Blue Rita (1977), another provocative spy thriller involving sinister female authority figures.

Lina Romay, credited as Candy Coster, portrays the resourceful Cecile, while Nadine Pascal plays her adventurous companion Brigitte. Joëlle Le Quément delivers a memorable performance as the hypnotic Irina Forbes, supported by Susan Hemingway, Muriel Montossé, and Doris Regina. Olivier Mathot appears as Senator Connolly, with Mel Rodrigo playing Milton.

The film’s mixture of international intrigue and exotic adventure also makes it a fascinating companion to Franco’s The Girl from Rio (1969), another extravagant spy fantasy featuring a powerful female antagonist. Meanwhile, Lina Romay’s performance connects the film to Women Behind Bars (1975), where Franco explores a darker world of captivity, corruption, and exploitation.

With its colorful locations, atmospheric jazz soundtrack, inventive camera work, and eccentric blend of eroticism and crime, Two Female Spies with Flowered Panties remains a distinctive curiosity of European cult cinema. Different international edits also contribute to its unusual history, with some versions containing additional characters and sequences absent from the Spanish release.

Playful, provocative, and delightfully unpredictable, Two Female Spies with Flowered Panties aka Ópalo de fuego offers a wonderfully strange journey into the world of vintage espionage cinema—where nightclub dancers become secret agents, an enchanted gemstone becomes a terrifying weapon, and uncovering the truth proves far more dangerous than anyone expected.
