Description: Robert Kuhn expects nothing more than a secret night of pleasure when he visits a brothel and chooses one of the performers after watching the stage show. But the evening ends in disaster. A woman is found with life-threatening injuries, Robert is arrested, and his respectable private life collapses overnight.
His wife Lola is horrified by the scandal, but she refuses to believe that Robert is guilty of the violent act he is accused of committing. Determined to prove his innocence, she enters the same brothel world that destroyed his reputation, hoping to discover what really happened behind the closed doors of the establishment.
There, Lola meets Lena, a dancer connected to the injured woman and to the tangled emotional life surrounding the case. What begins as an investigation slowly becomes a seduction into another reality: smoky rooms, stage lights, private performances, jealous lovers, hidden diaries, and fragments of a story that never fully settles into a clean explanation.
As Lola follows the clues, the mystery shifts away from simple guilt or innocence and into the unstable territory of obsession. Marga, Lena, Robert, and the men circling the brothel all seem trapped inside a world where desire, humiliation, jealousy, and performance blur together. Lola’s search for truth becomes a personal descent, pulling her further from the security of marriage and into the same dreamlike underworld she first entered to save her husband.
White Skin Black Thighs is less a conventional crime thriller than a hazy exploitation melodrama, built from accusation, voyeurism, wounded pride, and eroticized mystery. Its story moves like a half-remembered confession: fragmented, sleazy, theatrical, and unmistakably tied to Jess Franco’s mid-70s collaborations with Swiss producer Erwin C. Dietrich.

White Skin Black Thighs belongs to the productive and controversial Franco/Dietrich period, when Jess Franco and Erwin C. Dietrich created a run of low-budget European exploitation films in Switzerland with minimal sets, pseudonymous credits, and multiple market versions. Like several titles from that cycle, it circulated in different cuts, including softer and harder variants prepared for different audiences.
The film’s interest lies less in polish than atmosphere. It has the stripped-down feel of a chamber piece: a brothel, a scandal, a damaged woman, a suspicious husband, and a wife drawn into a world she does not understand. The result is minor Franco, but still recognizably Franco — loose, voyeuristic, hypnotically repetitive, and more concerned with mood, bodies, and obsession than with the tidy mechanics of suspense.
For collectors of 1970s Eurocult cinema, it remains a revealing artifact of the Dietrich factory: fast, lurid, commercially calculated, and oddly dreamlike in the way only Franco’s most threadbare productions can be.
