Description: Artist and botanist Frédéric Lansac lives a refined life of beauty and culture — until his new wife Anne becomes horribly disfigured in a tragic fire during a celebration. What was meant to be a lifetime of love and painting turns into nightmare. Her shattered face destroys both her self-image and Frédéric’s artistic muse.
Unable to accept the loss, Frédéric becomes obsessed with restoring Anne’s former beauty. He tracks down a disgraced plastic surgeon with shady methods and coerces him into performing a face transplant — but only if the surgeon can find a living donor. Driven by desperation and love, Lansac lures unsuspecting women into his secluded château under false pretenses. One by one, they become unwilling participants in a grotesque scheme.
As Anne’s mental state deteriorates and the mansion’s corridors fill with whispers of betrayal, guilt, and horror, the veneer of romance peels away. What began as a tragic accident spirals into a macabre descent into obsession, moral decay, and murder. Frédéric’s dream becomes a monstrous reality — a dark mirror showing how far love can drive a man to defy ethics and sanity.
With its gothic castle setting, haunting atmosphere, and themes of identity, beauty and corruption, The Blood Rose stands as a somber, unsettling entry in European horror — a tragic fairy tale transformed into a horror of flesh, obsession, and doomed redemption.
